ok this is dumb but i finally did a clean split s through a gap at my local spot and i was losing my mind. been trying to get that one for honestly probably two months of flying. the gap is like between two shipping containers and i kept either overshooting the entry or just panicking and pulling out early. today it just clicked and i threaded it twice in a row. i think what helped was flying a bit slower than i usually do and just trusting the quad to roll through instead of trying to force the arc. anyway if anyone is struggling with a specific trick just keep showing up i guess, it'll happen eventually

so ive been flying my 5inch for about 6 months now and i can pull off basic stuff like split s and juicy flow lines but whenever i try to do snap rolls or anything that requires quick inputs the quad just feels... mushy? like it responds but not crispy enough. running betaflight 4.4 and i messed with the rates a bit but honestly i dont really know what im doing in the configurator. master multiplier is at like 1.2 and i feel like maybe my pids are just off. friend told me to lower D but last time i touched D it started oscillating on fast descents so i just left it. anyone had this kind of thing before

ok so i was out at the spot yesterday finally feeling confident enough to try some more advanced stuff after watching way too many mr steele videos. decided to go for a juicy whip and just completely misread when to punch out of it, ended up basically lawn darting straight into the dirt at full tilt. props are gone, one arm is cracked, somehow the camera survived which is insane

anyway not really asking anything i just needed to vent. also if anyone has tips on the timing for pulling out of a whip that would be great because i clearly have no idea what im doing

so ive been flying freestyle for like 8 months now and just recently started noticing that my rolls snap really clean but whenever i do a split s or just a basic backflip the quad kind of... floats? like it doesnt commit the same way. its not a horrible feeling but when im trying to link a splitS into a dive it just feels off compared to how tight the rolls are

running betaflight 4.4 on a 5 inch, motors are around 2400kv, stock pids for the most part with just some minor tweaks on P and D. not sure if this is a filtering thing or if i need to mess with the pitch tune specifically. anyone dealt with this before

been flying freestyle for maybe 8 months, comfortable with rolls and flips, doing some split-s and stuff but corks just completely wreck me every time. i understand the concept like intellectually i get that youre mixing yaw into a flip but when im actually flying my brain just freezes and i either get a flat flip or i yaw too much and it looks like garbage

is there a specific way people practice this or did you guys just throw yourself at it until it clicked. simulator helps but my sim feels different enough from real life that im not sure im building the right muscle memory

so ive been messing with my tune for like two weeks now trying to get it dialed for freestyle and something is just off with my snap rolls. they finish fine but theres this weird oscillation right at the end, like the quad doesnt want to settle. its not terrible but you can feel it and it looks bad in the footage.

running betaflight 4.4, 5inch build, 2306 motors. i bumped D up a bit thinking it would help damp that out but it just made the whole thing feel sluggish. dropped it back down and the snaps feel more crisp but the bounce is still there. feels like a P issue maybe? or could be the filtering. i genuinely dont know at this point im just turning knobs hoping something clicks

anyone dealt with this on a freestyle tune specifically? not racing, i want the quad to feel locked but still have some snap to it

okay so i know juicy hundreds are not even that hard for most people here but i have been absolutely cooked on this trick forever. kept either not having enough speed going in or just completely losing orientation on the second flip. today at the spot by the old warehouse i just kind of stopped thinking about it and threaded one through this gap in the fence and it actually looked clean on the dvr. still a bit hesitant on the throttle coming out but whatever. the feeling of finally getting a trick after forever is something else. now i just need to stop losing the quad in the tall grass every session

so ive been trying to nail split s rolls and every time i come out of the rotation the back end just kind of kicks out and wobbles for like half a second before it stabilizes. its not a crash level thing but it looks terrible on the footage and i can tell the tune isnt right for it. im on a 5inch running betaflight 4.4, rates are pretty low still because im not super experienced but i dont think thats the cause here. tried bumping d term a little and it helped like 10% but still looks sloppy. anyone dealt with this

so i've been flying mostly cinematic stuff for about a year, like smooth cruising, proximity stuff, the occasional diving shot. decided i wanna get into freestyle properly because honestly watching guys like Rotor Riot just makes it look too fun to ignore. but i genuinely dont know where to start with actual tricks. tried a roll and it was fine but like, what do people usually build up from. powerloops seem terrifying but maybe thats the goal idk. my quad is a 5inch with a pretty conservative tune rn so maybe that needs to change too before i even think about this

ok so ive been messing with my tune for like two weeks now and i cannot figure this out. every time i try to pull into a split s the back end just kicks out and it goes into this weird oscillating death roll before i can catch it. not every time but like 60% of attempts which is way too often to be comfortable with it. running betaflight 4.4 on a 5inch, filters are mostly default with a little tweak on the dterm lowpass. rates feel fine for everything else, jukes, rolls, powerloops all feel solid. its specifically this one move that kills me. anyone had this before or is my tune just fundamentally broken somewhere

been trying to link these two moves together for weeks and i just could not get the transition right, kept either losing too much altitude going into the power loop or just bailing on it. today something just clicked and i threaded it through this gap in the trees at my local spot and pulled it off like 4 times in a row. idk what changed, maybe just muscle memory finally kicking in. anyway just wanted to share because i feel like nobody in my life understands why this is exciting

so ive been flying freestyle for about 8 months now and i feel like im decent enough at the stick movements but my quad just feels... mushy? like it responds but not snappy at all. running a 5inch with f7 stack, 2306 motors, betaflight 4.4. i copied a tune from youtube for the same frame and it flew okay but still not that locked-in snappy feeling i see in the fpv freestyle videos. rates feel fine i think, running about 700 on roll. not sure if its the tune or just my flying tbh

ok so this has been my white whale for a while. every time i tried a splitS i was either too slow going in and just flopped or i pulled through too hard and nearly planted it. been watching a ton of le drib and Mr Steele clips just trying to understand the timing visually because no amount of reading about it was helping

finally today at my usual spot just committed to it full send with actual speed behind me and it just... clicked. did like 6 of them back to back before my battery died. no idea what changed honestly maybe just muscle memory finally catching up. the feeling when you nail it for the first time is hard to describe

so ive been trying to nail down my rolls for like 3 weeks now and no matter what i do there's this weird wobble that happens right in the middle of the roll, not at the start or end just dead center. flying a 5inch with f7 stack and currently on betaflight 4.4. rates are probably the issue but honestly ive messed with them so much at this point i dont even know what baseline looks like anymore

anyone dealt with this before? feels like a filtering thing maybe but i pushed the filters pretty hard already trying to get that freestyle feel and now im second guessing everything

ok so after probably 4 months of messing with PIDs and filters i finally have something that just feels right. running a 5inch with 2306 motors and the props are the dal cyclone 5048s. dropped my D term way down from where betaflight autotune put it, like it kept feeling sluggish on snaps and i couldnt figure out why for the longest time.

also turned RPM filter on and lowered the gyro filter cutoff and honestly the difference was pretty noticable. quad feels way crisper on direction changes and my attempts at Matty flips are actually starting to look like something. still cant get the timing on the throttle punch consistent but whatever, small wins. anyone else find that autotune just overtunes D or is that a motor/prop combo thing

ok so been trying to link these two together for months and today it just clicked. i think the key for me was carrying way more speed into the split s than i thought i needed, like i kept slowing down because i was scared and that was killing the whole flow. once i just committed and kept the throttle up through the first half it actually felt natural going into the loop. probably looked terrible on the dvr but it felt smooth as hell. anyone else find that speed is the answer to most freestyle problems lol because for me it really seems like it

so anyway ive been messing with this for weeks now. quad flies great, doesnt feel loose or anything, props barely wash out on hard moves. but when i pull the footage it just looks slightly wobbly on fast rolls and snaps dont look as sharp as other peoples videos. running RPM filter, master multiplier is at 1.1, D is probably where its at but honestly not sure what to look at next. running a runcam wasp if that matters. is this a PID thing still or could it be something with the camera angle or gyro

okay so i finally attempted a split s after watching tutorials for like two weeks. went out to the field this morning and just went for it. first attempt was horrifying, i pulled through and completely lost orientation and nearly went into the trees. managed to save it but my heart was going insane

second and third attempts were way better once i realised i was initiating the roll too slow. by the end of the session i was linking them back to back which felt insane. genuinely one of the best feelings ive had flying so far. anyway if anyones scared to try it just go higher and give yourself room, thats what made the diffrence for me

ok so context ? been working on linking tricks together instead of just doing them one at a time, thats the whole goal right. anyway i was at this abandoned lot i fly at and there was this perfect gap between two concrete pillars. plan was split s into the gap then immediately pull into a power loop on the other side. executed the split s fine, came out of it way faster than expected, panicked, pulled too hard, clipped the top of the loop and the quad just tombstoned straight into the gravel. popped a prop and bent an arm slightly but it actually still flew after i swapped props which was kind of impressive. the sequence itself felt amazing for like half a second though, definitely trying it again once i fix the arm
