im shooting in D-Log M usually, 4k 60fps. the banding shows up more in skies and flat color areas. i thought it was a shutter speed thing at first so i tried fixing the 180 rule more carefully but it still happened. its not rolling shutter, its more like... color banding i guess. hard to describe without posting a clip

anyone seen this before. genuinely stumped

my main use is landscape photography, some slow cinematic video when i feel like it, nothing crazy. i dont do events or paid work or anything like that. the sensor upgrade on the 3S looks genuinely impressive but im not sure how much of that i'd actually notice in the stuff i shoot. like on a tripod equivalent shot on a calm day does that extra low light performance even matter

anyone actually gone from the Air 3 to the 3S and noticed a real difference in their landscape shots or is this just classic gear acquisition syndrome talking

ran in (ruined my shoes, whatever), grabbed it probably 15 seconds after it went in. dried it off with my shirt, took the battery out immediately, let it sit in my bag with a silica gel packet i happened to have for like 4 hours. got home, left it in front of a fan overnight and by next morning it powered on and flew totally fine. the gimbal does this weird little stutter when it first initializes now but after a few seconds its fine and the footage looks normal.

not saying this is gonna work for everyone obviously and i know DJI doesnt warranty water damage. just kind of shocked it survived at all. has anyone else had something like this happen and should i be worried about the gimbal thing going forward or is that probably just residual weirdness from the water.

my main thing right now is trying to do a sunset hyperlapse over a lake near my house. the drone locks on fine and starts moving but the exposure is all over the place even with ND filters on. im using the ND16 that came in the fly more combo. maybe i need a stronger one for golden hour? or is there a setting in the camera menu im missing. also not sure if i should be shooting in normal or d-log m for this kind of thing, feels like every answer i find online contradicts the last one.

im on the latest firmware. the spot im flying is a big open field, not a ton of interference usually. i did switch to flying O3 only mode a while back to see if that helped and it kind of did but not as much as expected. just wondering if anyone has run into this and figured out what was going on. feels like maybe an antenna thing but i dont really know how to check that

the main thing that keeps catching my eye is the bigger sensor on the 3S. i shoot mostly in good light so im not sure it matters that much for me? but then again i dunno. the low light stuff does look insane in the sample videos ive seen. also heard the obstacle avoidance is better but my Air 3 hasnt really given me issues there.

anyone actually upgraded from the 3 to the 3S and regretted it or felt it was totally worth it? or should i just put that money toward ND filters and maybe a better bag

Ive been looking at PolarPro, Freewell, the DJI ones, and honestly theres so many options at so many price points i dont even know where to start. The 3S has a different sensor size than the Air 3 right so i want to make sure im not buying the wrong thing. Anyone gone through this and have an opinion they actually stand behind? Not looking for the perfect theoretical answer just what you actually use day to day.

It held up fine honestly but i got nervous and brought it back early. DJI rates it for like 27mph sustained or something like that but im curious what people actually experience in the real world. Do you trust the spec sheet or do you have your own personal limit you stick to? I feel like ive been too conservative but then again id rather not find out the hard way.

im using the standard RC-N1 controller that came with it. i've tried different locations thinking maybe it was interference but same thing happens out in the middle of a field. updated firmware last month. my phone is a fairly recent samsung if that matters. dont really know what else to check at this point

but then again i'm not selling footage or anything, just personal stuff and some stuff for family. my buddy said the difference is noticeable but he also just loves buying new gear so i dont really trust him on this one. anyone here actually gone from the Air 3 to the 3S and felt like it was genuinely worth the money? or is it one of those things where you only notice on a big monitor

i keep it in my jacket pocket between flights to try and keep it warm but it doesnt seem to help much. anyone dealt with this or is there a setting im missing or something. googled it a bit but didnt find much specific to the RC2

what i didnt account for was that the RC-N1 controller i was using ? the one without the screen ? had my phone battery at like 18% and i had a ton of apps running in the background. mid-flight my phone just decided to do one of those slow-death freezes where the screen is technically on but nothings responding. i panicked, tried to get it to reconnect, and by the time i got the app working again the drone had drifted into hover near the water surface and i overcorrected trying to bring it back up and clipped the surface.

it did not survive. im not going to pretend it was entirely the controllers fault but i really wish id either charged my phone fully or just brought the RC Pro. lesson very much learned. anyone else had issues with the RC-N1 and phone reliability? thinking about just biting the bullet on the smart controller

for context im usually shooting in the early evening, maybe an hour or so before golden hour, so the light is still pretty bright but changing. im using circle mode mostly. ND filters on ? currently have the 64 on ? and i set the shutter manually but maybe im doing something wrong with interval settings? ive tried 2 seconds and 3 seconds and honestly cant tell the difference in the final output.

just curious what settings other people are actually running in the real world, not the tutorial stuff. like what interval, what ND, do you let it handle exposure or lock it manually. anything helps

anyway someone in a facebook group mentioned i should be looking at ND filters and i went down a rabbit hole last night. theres so many options its kind of overwhelming. polar pro, freewell, the official dji ones... the price difference is massive and i cant really tell from youtube videos if the cheap ones are actually noticeably worse or if people are just being gear snobs

im shooting mostly landscape stuff, some coastal flying, occasional golden hour. nothing professional just want it to look less like a gopro and more like actual video if that makes sense. does anyone have real experience with the third party ones on the Air 3 specifically

looked at the DJI magnetic ND set and they're like $89 for the 4 pack which feels steep. there's a bunch of third party ones on amazon that are like $30-40. has anyone tried both and is there actually a difference in image quality or is it just the convenience of the magnetic system. I dont mind screwing filters on if the glass is better

anyway i guess my question is does anyone actually fly in those conditions regularly and how does the footage come out. im mostly doing landscape stuff so i need it to be smooth and not a jittery mess. my friend said he flies his Mini 4 in similar wind and it struggles so i assumed the Air 3 would be better but idk

i stood there for probably 45 seconds doing absolutely nothing useful before the signal came back on its own and the drone was totally fine just sitting there hovering. never actually triggered RTH. i think there was some interference from the power lines running along the edge of the reservoir but im not 100% sure

anyway it made me realize i never actually tested my RTH settings properly. i have it set to return at like 30 meters which is definitely too low given all the trees around there. gonna go fix that today. anyone else had random signal drops like this in otherwise open areas? feels weird because ive flown in way more sketchy spots without issues
