some thoughts

so ive been sitting on the fence between this and the mini 3 pro for like half a year and i just pulled the trigger on the EVO Lite+ last week. figured id share some thoughts since i couldnt find a lot of recent user opinions when i was doing my research, most of the stuff out there is from or sponsored reviews which are basically useless.

first thing ? the camera is genuinely impressive for the price point i got it at (found a refurb deal). the variable aperture is something i wasnt expecting to love as much as i do, especially shooting in mixed lighting situations. golden hour stuff has looked really good coming out of it.

the app situation though. SkyHub is... fine? it works but it feels a little clunky compared to DJI fly. not a dealbreaker but there is a learning curve if you're coming from the DJI ecosystem like i was. took me probably two full sessions to stop accidentally hitting the wrong things.

obstacle avoidance is only front and rear on this model which i knew going in but it still catches me off guard sometimes when i forget and try to fly backward into something. just something to keep in mind if you're used to more sensors.

overall pretty happy with it. battery life seems solid, getting around 35-38 min in calm conditions. curious if anyone else here runs one and has accessory recommendations, specifically thinking about ND filters and whether the Autel branded ones are worth it or if i should just go third party.

EVO Nano+ keeps losing signal way sooner than it should??

this has been bugging me for a while and i finally decided to just ask here because i cant figure it out. my Nano+ drops signal and gives me a warning way earlier than the specs suggest it should. like i'm talking maybe 400-500 meters out in open areas with no obvious interference and it starts getting sketchy. i've seen other people fly these things way further without issues.

i'm in a suburban area so there's definitely some wifi noise but i wouldnt think it's that bad. i've tried switching the frequency in the app but it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. the remote batteries are always charged. firmware is up to date as far as i know.

not sure if i have a defective unit or if i'm missing something obvious. anyone dealt with this?

finally picked up an EVO II Pro after going back and forth for months ? some thoughts

so i've been flying a Mavic 2 Pro for about two years and kept looking at the EVO II Pro every time it went on sale. finally pulled the trigger last month during a random deal i found and honestly i dont regret it at all but there are some things i wish someone had told me before i bought it.

first thing ? the Autel Sky app is... fine. its not DJI GO 4 and it's definitely not the smoothest experience but once you get used to where everything lives it's workable. i had some connection drops the first couple flights that i think were just me not having the remote firmware updated properly, once i sorted that out it's been solid.

the 6K sensor on this thing though. genuinely impressed me. i've been shooting mostly real estate walkthroughs and the dynamic range is noticeably better than what i was getting with the Mavic in certain lighting conditions, like late afternoon shoots with harsh shadows. colors out of the camera feel a bit warmer which i actually like but i know some people prefer to start neutral so just something to be aware of.

the obstacle avoidance is okay. not as refined as DJI's but it works, it's saved me at least once already near some tree branches i didnt see coming. battery life feels about the same as the Mavic honestly, maybe slightly less but i havent done a proper comparison.

anyway curious if anyone else is running one of these for professional work and what accessories they've found actually worth getting. i grabbed a couple extra batteries and a ND filter set but thats about it so far.

EVO Nano keeps losing connection randomly ? anyone dealt with this

this has been bugging me for a couple months now and im at the point where I dont know if its a hardware problem or if im doing something wrong. Basically my Nano will just drop signal for a second or two and then reconnect, happens at varying distances, sometimes close sometimes further out. Doesnt seem to be related to how far I am from it.

Ive tried different phones, made sure the app is updated, and I even did a full reset at some point. Flying in a pretty open area mostly, not a lot of buildings or interference that I can think of. It reconnects fast enough that I havent had any scary moments but its just not something I want to rely on and it's kind of killed my confidence in the thing a bit.

Running the latest firmware as of last week. Anyone else seen this or have any idea what could cause it
