flying at the coast for the first time - some thoughts

  • Members

so i finally took the mini 4 pro down to the outer banks last week and man i didnt realize how different coastal flying is from what im used to inland. the wind was way more unpredictable than my home spot, kept getting gusts that the aircraft was fighting against and i ended up with way less flight time than i expected just from battery drain dealing with it.

also had no idea about the national seashore rules there. almost set up right in a restricted zone without knowing it. had to walk like half a mile down the beach to find a legal spot. definitely check airspace before you go somewhere new and dont assume beaches are just open like that
