mini 4 pro keeps drifting when i let go of the sticks??

  • Members

so ive had my mini 4 pro for about 3 weeks now and i keep noticing that when i let go of both sticks it doesnt just... stop. like it hovers fine but it slowly drifts in whatever direction the wind is coming from i think. sometimes its barely noticeable but yesterday i was trying to get a shot near some trees and it kept creeping toward them even in what felt like calm air.

i calibrated the IMU last week and it didnt really change anything. is this just normal for a drone this light or am i missing a setting somewhere. i fly in normal mode mostly, havent really touched sport mode yet. RC2 controller if that matters

yeah thats pretty much just physics my dude. 249g drone in any kind of breeze is gonna drift, the obstacle avoidance might slow it down near objects but the drone isnt going to fight wind to hold position perfectly, especially if GPS lock isnt great. how many satellites were you connected to when this happened? if youre under like 10-12 birds it can get a bit wobbly on positioning. also check if youre near anything that could mess with the compass, ive had mine act weird near certain metal structures before.

the mini series is just inherently more susceptible to wind than something heavier, thats the tradeoff for it being under 250g. nothing wrong with your drone probably.

omg i had the exact same thing happen to me when i first got mine i panicked so much lol. turned out i just wasnt in a spot with good GPS signal. now i always wait for the app to show a solid green before i take off and its way more stable. also someone told me to recalibrate the compass not just the IMU, not sure if that actually helped or if i was just flying somewhere better after but worth trying maybe
