so i went to my first drone meetup last month and dont get me wrong it was cool meeting people but flying in a group is weird. everyone flying at the same time in the same area and im just trying not to hit anyones bird. one guy had some massive octocopter thing that sounded like a lawnmower and kind of just dominated the whole airspace the entire time. still fun i guess but i expected it to feel more... idk coordinated? anyway going again this sunday so maybe itll be different

haha the guy with the big octocopter is at literally every meetup ive ever been to. its always the same dude. but yeah after a couple you start to figure out the unwritten rules, people generally take turns without saying anything and it gets less chaotic

Honestly some clubs are better organized than others about this. The one I fly with does a loose rotation when its crowded, especially if people are doing anything closer to fpv racing lines. But yeah just showing up to a random fly-in can be a free for all, just gotta keep your head on a swivel and maybe fly a bit higher than usual to stay out of the chaos down low.
