mini 3 keeps drifting when i let go of sticks ? is this normal??

so ive had my mini 3 (not pro, just the regular one) for about 3 weeks now and im still getting used to it but theres this thing thats been bugging me. when i let go of both sticks the drone kind of drifts a little before it stops, like it slides maybe a foot or two in whatever direction it was moving. happens more on windy days obviously but even indoors when i was testing it in my garage it did it a bit.

is this just how these things work or do i have something miscalibrated? i did the compass calibration when i first set it up but im not sure if i need to do IMU too. my friend has a mavic air 2 and he says his just stops dead when he releases sticks but idk if thats the same technology or whatever

totally normal, its not a glitch. these smaller drones dont have the same braking authority as heavier ones and theres always gonna be a little float when you release. the mini 3 in particular is pretty light so wind affects it more. what you can do is go into the DJI Fly app settings and bump up the brake sensitivity, theres a slider in the advanced controls section. also make sure youre flying in Normal mode not Sport because sport mode has way longer stopping distances by design.

the IMU calibration thing ? you probably dont need to redo it unless you see a specific warning in the app telling you to. compass calibration is the one that matters more for GPS lock and hover stability.
