vtx keeps cutting out after like 2 min of flying, thought it was thermal but now im not sure

okay so this has been bugging me for a while and i cant figure it out. running a rushfpv tank solo vtx on my 5inch freestyle build, set to 400mw. after about 90 seconds to 2 minutes of flight the video just gets super noisy and then drops out almost completely. if i land and wait a minute it comes back fine.

at first i assumed it was overheating since i had it kind of tucked under the top plate with not a lot of airflow but i repositioned it and still same problem. also checked and the video does the same thing when im just hovering which rules out vibration i think. power wiring all looks good, no loose connectors that i can see.

the weird thing is the fc and motors are totally fine its just the video feed. running a tbs triumph stubby on the vtx side and a pagoda on my goggles. i wonder if the antenna is somehow the issue but that doesnt really explain the timing of it.

check your solder joint on the antenna connector, specifically on the vtx itself. had almost the exact same symptom on a speedybee vtx and it turned out the center pin of the ufl connector had a cold joint that would expand just enough under heat to break contact. looked totally fine visually but reflowing it fixed everything.

also worth checking if your vtx has a pit mode pin thats floating - some of them will randomly drop to 25mw if that pin is picking up noise. tie it to ground if you're not using pit mode.

the triumph stubby is fine but its not great honestly. i switched mine out for an aomway 5.8 cloverleaf and got noticeably cleaner signal especially at range. probably not your problem here since yours is cutting out close in but something to think about after you sort the main issue. also are you sure youre not running into a frequency conflict with someone else nearby, had that happen at a park once and couldnt figure out why my signal was trashed until the other guy landed lol
