tinyhawk 3 out of box tune is actually pretty decent? or am i just used to bad quads

got a tinyhawk 3 as kind of a backup indoor quad, wasnt expecting much honestly eachine and emax stuff has always felt a bit mushy to me in the past. but flew it last night in my garage and it was way more locked in than i expected. not like race-spec locked in but for a 1s whoop its not embarrassing. filter stack seems okay, no obvious propwash on quick direction changes which i was fully expecting to hate.

curious if anyone has actually dug into the PIDs on one of these or if the consensus is just leave it and fly it. im tempted to tweak the P terms a bit because it feels slightly over-dampened to me on roll but im also aware i might just be projecting based on my 5 inch expectations onto a tiny 1s quad and that's not really fair

also the vtx output on mine seems lower than spec, getting some breakup at like 15 meters through one wall. not sure if thats just how it is or if i have a lemon

yeah the vtx on those is kinda known to be a bit inconsistant. i think the stated output is technically true but the antenna placement is terrible and you loose a lot practically. some people solder a slightly longer wire or swap to a linear dipole and it helps. its not really worth a full vtx swap on a 1s quad but the antenna thing is an easy fix if your comfortable with a soldering iron

I'd leave the PIDs alone for at least 10-15 more packs. Seriously. On 1s whoops especially your perception of what feels right changes a lot as you get more time on the specific quad. What feels over-damped now might feel fine once you adjust your inputs a bit. That said if you really want to poke at it just drop D a touch before you touch P, in my experience the mushy feeling on smaller quads is almost always a D term issue not P.
