so i picked up the avata 2 back in the spring after selling my avata 1 and figured id share some thoughts since ive seen a lot of hype posts but not many people talking about the annoying stuff.
the good stuff first ? image quality is genuinely a big step up, like the low light performance especially is way better than the first one. the new goggles 3 with the micro oled screens are really nice and once you get the IPD dialed in the clarity is pretty impressive. flying feel in manual mode is good, it responds predictably which matters when youre trying to thread gaps.
the stuff that bugs me though. battery life is still not great, i get maybe 20 minutes if im not pushing it hard and more like 15 if im ripping around. the RC motion controller is fun but i keep accidentally hitting things because the gestures are so sensitive and i havent fully dialed in my settings yet maybe thats on me. also had one incident where it just dropped connection for a second and then recovered, happened twice in four months, probably interference but it's unnerving.
overall i like it more than the first avata but if you're coming from something like a DJI fpv you might find the manual mode ceiling a bit lower than a proper freestyle quad. for cinematic fpv stuff though its really solid and the whole ecosystem is just so plug and play compared to building your own
