ok so i picked up a mini 2 se last week because my brother in law wouldnt stop talking about his and i finally caved. ive watched maybe 4 or 5 youtube videos but honestly they all feel like they're made for people who already know stuff? like they say things like "make sure your RTH altitude is set correctly" and im sitting here like ok but how do i even find that setting and also what does it actually do if i dont set it right

i havent crashed it yet but i feel like im just getting lucky. i mostly fly it in my backyard which is pretty small and surrounded by trees. is that a bad idea for a beginner or is it fine to just keep practicing there even if its a tight space. also do i need to register it somewhere or is that only for the bigger ones

RTH is return to home, basically if the drone loses signal or you hit a button it flies back to where it took off from. if your RTH altitude is set too low it'll try to fly back and smack right into a tree or your roof on the way. for a backyard with trees id set it to at least 30 meters or whatever clears everything around you by a good margin. just go into the safety settings in the DJI fly app and it's in there, pretty hard to miss once you're looking for it.

as for registration in the US anything under 250g doesn't need to be registered with the FAA for recreational flying but the mini 2 se is right at 249g so you're fine. still worth reading the TRUST test stuff though, it's free and takes like 20 minutes.
