Inspire 2 still worth buying in or just get something else

so ive been shooting commercial real estate and some indie film stuff for about three years now, mostly with a Mavic 3 Cine which has been fine but clients are starting to ask for more and one of them specifically requested X7 footage for a project coming up in the fall. been looking at used Inspire 2 kits and theyre still going for decent money even used which makes me wonder if the platform is just done or if people are still actively working with these things.

the dual operator thing is obviously a big deal for cinema work and honestly the payload flexibility with being able to swap between X4S and X7 is still kind of hard to beat at that price range. i just dont know if DJI is going to keep supporting it or if parts are going to become a nightmare. already noticed some sellers saying they have trouble sourcing certain motors. anyone still running these day to day for paid work or has everyone moved on

still running mine, got two of them actually. use them almost every week for commercial and the occasional music video. the X7 with the DL 35mm is still genuinely one of the best drone cinema setups you can put together without spending Freefly money. yeah DJI has kind of moved on from it officially but the thing still flies great and CinemaDNG RAW out of that camera holds up really well in post.

parts situation is real though. had a motor arm go bad last year and it took a while to sort out. i keep a spare set of arms and a backup TB50 bank just in case. if youre buying used make sure you get one thats not been crashed because the frame damage on these can be sneaky, like it looks fine but the vibration signature is completely different and youll see it in your footage eventually.

honestly i looked at this exact decision like six months ago and ended up going with a used Inspire 2 kit instead of waiting for something new and im glad i did. got a full X7 kit with three lenses and a spare set of batteries for less than a new Mavic 3 Pro Cine. the image quality difference is pretty significant especially if youre delivering anything that might end up on a big screen. the form factor is a pain to transport compared to a foldable but for real cinema jobs its just a different tool entirely
