my friend who flies drones told me to skip the beginner stuff and just get the mini 4 pro as my first drone. he says ill regret buying something cheaper and just want to upgrade anyway. but that things like 760 dollars and im not even sure i like flying yet. feels like a lot to spend on something i might crash in a field somewhere. but then again i dont want to buy something twice. i dunno, anyone been in this situation before

your friend isnt wrong exactly but also isnt totally right either. the mini 4 pro is a great drone but its kind of wasted if youre in the phase where you dont know how to read wind or you panic and overcorrect. i started on a DJI Mini 3 and it was more than enough to learn on and still shoots good footage. if you crash the mini 4 pro learning the basics thats a very expensive lesson. i'd say get something mid range first, fly it for a few months, then you'll actually know what features you care about

yeah i mean I bought a mavic air 2 as my first drone because someone told me the same thing and honestly i regret nothing but i also scratched a motor on my third flight so. could have gone very badly. depends how careful you are i guess. also the mini 4 pro is genuinely a diffrent level in terms of the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance which matters a lot when youre new and not aware of whats behind you
