Flying drone across state lines - do different state laws actually matter?

I have my Part 107 and want to do some commercial work traveling between Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. I know FAA rules are federal, but I'm seeing mentions of different state laws. Which states have preemption laws vs. local restrictions? Do I need to research every city I visit, or does my Part 107 cover everything?

  • What about state parks and private property rules?
  • Are there states where Part 107 doesn't override local restrictions?
