so ive had the original Avata for about a year and a half now, mostly flying it inside warehouses and through some tighter spaces outdoors, and honestly its been pretty solid. the obstacle avoidance isnt perfect indoors but i got used to just turning it off and relying on manual corrections which... works fine once you get a feel for it.

anyway my buddy keeps telling me the Avata 2 is a massive step up and i should just sell the original and grab one but im not totally convinced. like the specs look better on paper, the O4 transmission is nice, battery life improvement is real, i get all that. but for tight indoor flying specifically does any of that actually translate to a noticeably better experience or is it more of a benefit for outdoor long range stuff. also curious how the goggles 3 compare to the v2 for latency in cluttered environments where signal bounces around a lot.

not trying to start a fanboy war just genuinely trying to figure out if the extra cost makes sense for my use case

honest answer ? for purely indoor tight flying the original Avata is still totally capable and the upgrade isnt as dramatic as DJI's marketing wants you to think. the O4 vs O3 difference matters a lot more when youre pushing distance or flying in RF-heavy outdoor environments. indoors with all the signal reflection happening anyway youre not going to notice some massive latency improvement.

that said the Avata 2 does feel noticeably snappier in manual mode and the stabilization in normal mode is genuinely better. if you fly a mix of indoor and outdoor i think it starts to make more sense. but if its like 80% indoor warehouse type stuff and youre happy with what you have, id wait for a sale or frankly just keep flying the one you've got until something actually breaks or frustrates you enough to justify it.

I went from v1 to v2 a few months ago and the thing I notice most isnt the transmission honestly its the motors and how it handles at low throttle. feels way more planted when youre doing slow proximity stuff. the goggles 3 head tracking is also just better, smoother. but yeah im mostly an outdoor flyer so take that for what its worth for your indoor use case
