okay so ive been going back and forth on this for like two weeks and im driving myself crazy. every thread i read either ends up being from or just turns into people arguing about whether you should build your own instead which is not helpful lol.

i want a prebuilt 5inch for freestyle. thats it. i have a Radiomaster Boxer so ill be pulling out whatever receiver is in there and putting in an ELRS one. running DJI O3 goggles so ideally something with an O3 air unit mount situation already sorted but ive seen people saying both of these need a TPU printed mount so whatever.

from what i can tell the Evoque is maybe a bit snappier and the Roma is smoother out of the box but i genuinely cannot tell if im reading that right or if its just vibes from peoples writing. anyone actually flown both? or even one of them recently enough that the info isnt stale

flown the Evoque, havent touched the Roma personally. the Evoque out of the box was actually pretty decent, i was surprised. stock Betaflight tune had some mush to it in rolls but nothing that a filter tweak couldnt sort. the frame itself is really solid and the motor temps stayed reasonable even on 6S which i was a bit worried about. the O3 mount situation is fine, i just printed a top plate adapter off printables and was done in like 20 minutes.

cant compare directly to the Roma but from what ive seen on video the Roma looks a tiny bit more floaty which might actually be what you want for smooth freestyle? depends on your style honestly. if you throw a lot of snappy direction changes the Evoque probably wins, if youre more into flowy lines maybe the Roma. thats the vibe i get anyway.

this is probably not what you want to hear but both are gonna feel kinda meh until you tune them. prebuilts in that price range ship with safe tunes so nothing breaks in shipping or on maiden but it leaves alot of performance on the table. just pick one, fly it, tune the D term up a bit and adjust the filters. youll stop wondering which is better once youre actually in the air
