did anyone else see the new DJI announcement? kinda surprised by the price

so DJI dropped some info on the new mini series yesterday and honestly i wasnt expecting the price point to be that high considering where the mini 3 landed when it first came out. i get that inflation is a thing and components cost more now but it still stings a little when youre used to the mini lineup being the "affordable" option you know?

anyway im curious what everyone thinks, is the feature set worth it or are they just slowly pushing the mini line upmarket to fill the gap left by the mavic 3 classic being discontinued. feels like thats whats happening but maybe im reading too much into it. also the obstacle avoidance situation on the base model vs the pro version is kind of annoying to parse through, the spec sheets are always deliberately vague about exactly how many sensors you get on each tier

anyone pre-ordered yet or waiting to see real world footage first

yeah i saw that, my gut reaction was the same. i think theyre definitely doing a slow march upmarket with the mini line and at some point it wont really make sense to call it "mini" except for the weight class. the sub-250g thing is still the big selling point for a lot of people in terms of reg avoidance so i get why they keep the name but the price gap between mini and air is getting pretty thin

i preordered the pro version because i do a lot of real estate stuff and the omnidirectional sensing matters to me practically. but for a hobbyist i honestly dont know if id bother over a used mini 3 pro right now, those are going for decent prices secondhand and the image quality is still really solid

im pretty new to all this so maybe i dont have great context but isnt the mini line supposed to be for beginners lol. if its getting expensive maybe ill just stick with my mini 2 se for now, it does everything i need and i havent even come close to maxing out what it can do honestly
