switching from fatshark to walksnail - worth it or am i just chasing hype

so ive been running my dominator HD3s for like 3 years now and they still work fine but everyone in my local group keeps talking about walksnail and how its changed their flying. i did try a buddy's avatar system at a track day last month and yeah the image quality is insane compared to what im used to but i also crashed on a gate i wouldve nailed on analog so im not sure if it was the latency or just me being unfamiliar with the goggles.

my main concern is the latency thing. i fly mostly tight wooded tracks, not big open stuff, so any extra ms feels like it matters. ive read conflicting stuff online, some people say you adjust in like 20 minutes of flying, others say they went back to analog after a week. anyone actually made this switch and stuck with it for a while? also wondering about the VTX side because i dont want to rebuild all my quads if the price per VTX is gonna add up fast.

made the exact same switch about 8 months ago, came from dominator v3s actually. the latency adjustment is real but it genuinely took me maybe two or three packs and then it just felt normal. i dont think about it anymore. the bigger thing nobody talks about is how much better the DVR is now - like i actually share clips from my goggles which i never did with analog because it looked like garbage.

the VTX cost does sting though, not gonna lie. i rebuilt three quads straight away and held off on the other two for a couple months. if youre flying tight woods the penetration on 5.8 can be a bit iffy compared to what you might be used to with a well tuned analog setup, so worth keeping one analog quad around at least until you really know the system.

the latency thing gets blown way out of proportion on reddit imo. yes its technically higher than analog but the number in the specs doesnt really tell the whole story because the image is so much cleaner that your brain processes it faster if that makes any sense. i did a back to back test with someone running HDO2s on the same course and i wasnt slower.
