DJI v2 Goggle Antenna Impedance Mismatch - Air Unit & Stock 5.8GHz VTX Range Issues

  • Members

Having a real headache here. Just upgraded from analog to DJI air unit and I'm seeing terrible range compared to my DJI FPV drone setup. Stock DJI v2 antennas work fine for the integrated system, but when I switch to 5.8GHz mode for the air unit, I'm getting signal dropouts at 500m despite running 700mW power.

I know the v2 antennas are dual-band but not circular polarized - could impedance matching be the culprit here? Should I be looking at dedicated 5.8GHz CP antennas like TrueRC Singularity for air unit use, or am I missing something basic?

Anyone else experienced this when switching between DJI's integrated system and aftermarket air units on the same goggles?
