so theres a fly-in about 2 hours from me next month and im debating whether its worth the drive. ive only been flying for about 8 months and honestly dont know what to expect at these things. like is it just people showing off expensive gear or is it actually welcoming to newer pilots? i fly a mavic air 2 which i know isnt exactly impressive compared to what some guys bring out to these things

also not sure what to bring besides the obvious. extra batteries i guess? anyone whos actually been to one of these let me know if its worth it

dude just go. i was super hesitant about my first one too, thought everyone would be flying like $3000 setups and looking down at me for showing up with a mid range consumer quad. total opposite honestly. most people are just psyched to talk about flying and share tips. someone let me fly their fpv rig for like 10 minutes which i never expected

bring way more batteries than you think you need and maybe a folding chair, the fields can get pretty boring between flights if youre just standing around

they vary a lot depending on whos organizing it. some are great some are kinda whatever. id check if theres an AMA club behind it or if its just a random facebook group thing, the organized ones tend to have better setups and actually know whats going on with airspace and safety. either way mavic air 2 is totally fine nobody cares what you fly
