so we finally got enough people together for a group flight last weekend, maybe 12 pilots which is the most weve ever had at once. it was fun but honestly kind of chaotic. three people showed up with no idea what frequencies everyone else was on, one guy almost flew straight into someones fpv quad because he just launched without saying anything, and we didnt really have anyone acting as a coordinator so it was just kind of everyone doing their own thing at the same time

dont get me wrong i had a blast and the footage i got was actually really cool but im thinking for next time we need some kind of loose structure. like does anyone elses group do anything to keep things from getting out of hand when theres a bunch of pilots in the same spot

yeah 12 people with no comms plan is asking for trouble. our group uses a dedicated WhatsApp chat and someone volunteers to be the spotter for the day, not super formal but at least theres one person keeping an eye on whos in the air. also we do a quick 5 minute chat before anyone launches just to go over whos flying what and roughly where

lmao this is every group flight ive ever been to tbh. someone always just yeets their drone up without checking. we tried doing like a little pre-flight briefing thing but half the people wont pay attention anyway. just gotta accept a little chaos i think, as long as nobody crashes into each other its fine
