ok so i finally went to one of those club fly days at a local field and it was kind of a weird experience. like dont get me wrong people were friendly enough but i felt really out of place with my mini 3 pro among all these guys with giant fixed wings and turbine jets, felt like i showed up to a car meet with a honda civic

there was one other fpv guy there and we ended up just kind of off to the side doing our own thing which was actually pretty fun. he let me try his goggle setup and now im dangerously close to going down that rabbit hole. anyway just wondering if theres like dedicated fpv meetups vs the general club stuff because i think id vibe better with that crowd

yeah the AMA club fields can feel like that, lot of the old guard guys doing warbirds and trainers and they sometimes look at the fpv crowd sideways. not always but it depends on the club. worth searching for dedicated freestyle or race meetups in your area, completely different energy

lmao the honda civic analogy is perfect, i showed up to a similar thing with my 5inch once and this dude with a giant turbine jet just stared at me the whole time like i was personally offending him. found a local fpv group through rotorbuilds actually and those guys are way more my speed, everyone just wants to rip and help each other fix stuff
