ok so this isnt really about flying but my coworker found out i do drones and now he keeps asking me if i can "just film his wedding real quick" and i keep trying to explain that like, recreational flying and doing a professional gig for someone are very diffrent things legally and skill wise. he thinks because i have a drone i can just show up and do it no problem

ive told him three times now i dont have part 107 and even if i did id want actual practice doing event stuff before i took money for it. he just keeps saying "its just a small backyard thing" like that changes anything lol. dont know why i even brought up the hobby at work

oh man been there. told one person at a barbecue i flew and suddenly i was the designated drone guy for every family event they had planned for the next year. just say you sold it, trust me

the part 107 thing trips people up so much, they genuinely dont understand theres a whole legal framework around commercial use. your coworker probably just thinks its like borrowing someones nice camera. id just tell him you're not comfortable with it and leave it at that, some people wont get the nuance no matter how many times you explain
