Insurance companies hiring pilots?

  • Members

so anyway i was talking to this guy at the flying field yesterday and he mentioned something about insurance companies hiring drone pilots for damage assessment after storms and stuff. sounded interesting but he was pretty vague about the details

anyone know anything about this kind of work? seems like it could be steady gigs especially during storm season. wondering what the pay is like and if they provide equipment or if you need your own setup

Yeah thats definitely a thing, my buddy does roofing inspections for a couple different insurance companies. pays decent but you gotta be available on short notice and willing to travel. most of the time they want you there within 24-48 hours of a claim being filed

he uses his own gear but they reimburse expenses. think he said something like 200-400 per inspection depending on complexity
