group flights kinda awkward? or is that just me

so i finally went to one of those local drone meetups last weekend after people on here kept saying i should and idk it was a bit weird. everyone was super nice dont get me wrong but i felt like i didnt know the unwritten rules. like when do you launch, how close do you fly to other peoples aircraft, do you tell people when youre landing. i was just hovering around trying not to get in anyones way the whole time. anyone else felt like this the first time or did i just overthink it

yeah the first one is always a bit like that. nobody really explains the etiquette beforehand. general thing at most fly-ins ive been to is just call out when ur launching and landing, keep situational awareness and if someones doing a long range run they usually announce it. after a couple times it becomes second nature honestly just stick around and youll figure it out

i mean i still feel that way sometimes and ive been flying for 3 years lol. some groups have a designated flight director who kinda manages the airspace informally but a lot of casual meetups its just vibes. the awkward part goes away pretty fast once people start talking about their builds
