so ive been flying for about 8 months now and honestly most of my footage has been pretty garbage but last saturday something just clicked. went out to the coast around 6am before anyone showed up and the light was insane. did a slow reverse pull-back from the shoreline and you can see the waves breaking below while the sun is just coming over the horizon behind me.

uploaded it to youtube if anyone wants to check it out, not gonna post the link unless people actually want it cause i dont want to come across as just spamming. but genuinely happy with how the color grading turned out too, i barely touched the shadows and just let the natural warm tones do the work. been shooting in d-log for a few months and finally feel like i understand why people bother with the flat profile

anyone else find that coastal morning light just hits different or is it just me

d-log is so worth it once you get the hang of it. took me probably 3 or 4 months before i stopped blowing out highlights trying to correct it in post. what lut are you using or are you doing it all manually? i went through like a dozen free ones before i just started building my own looks from scratch, which sounds harder than it is honestly
