got my drone confiscated at the border, just a heads up

yeah so this happened. was crossing into Morocco overland from Spain and customs just... took it. didnt even really explain why, just said drones require an import permit or something and that was that. had the mini 3 in my backpack not even in a case which was probably dumb in hindsight. spent like two hours arguing and eventually just had to leave it with them and pick it up on the way back out which was somehow an option they offered at the end??

anyway got it back eventually but lost three days of shooting in the north which was the whole reason i brought it. lesson learned i guess, research the import rules not just the flight rules because those are apparently very different things and i had no idea

    this is why i always check the destination country's civil aviation AND customs pages separately now. so many people only look at airspace rules and totally miss the import/permit side of things. also

this is why i always check the destination country's civil aviation AND customs pages separately now. so many people only look at airspace rules and totally miss the import/permit side of things. also keeping it in a proper case probably wouldnt have helped here but at least it wouldnt have screamed "i have a drone" from across the room lol
