so we finally organized a group flight thing after talking about it for like two months in our discord. had maybe 12 people say they were coming. saturday rolls around and it rained until noon, then the wind picked up to like 25mph and half the people bailed. ended up being me and two other guys standing in a field looking at our bags. we did fly eventually, wind wasnt THAT bad for the 5 inch crowd but one guy brought his tiny whoop expecting calm air and that thing was just getting tossed everywhere. anyway we said we'd try again next month but honestly organizing these things is harder than it looks

lmao yeah weather kills more meetups than anything else. we've started doing a weather backup day when we schedule, like if saturday is bad we all just assume sunday is the fallback. cuts down on the whole "is it still on" text chain at 7am

12 people saying they'll come and like 3 showing up is just the standard conversion rate for these things tbh. i've stopped expecting more than half the RSVPs to actually materialize. the guys who do show up are usually the real ones though so it works out
