landed in iceland and immediately ran into wind i wasnt ready for

ok so this is half a rant half a warning i guess. flew out to iceland last week, had this whole shot list planned, waterfalls, the black sand beaches, all of it. first morning i take the air 3 out near vik and the wind just absolutely destroyed any chance of smooth footage. we're talking consistent 40+ kmh with gusts that had the drone working way harder than i liked. ended up landing after like 6 minutes because i didnt trust it.

did manage to get some shots later in the week when conditions calmed down near the highlands but man i underestimated how brutal the coastal wind is there. checked the weather apps religiously after that. windy.com was way more accurate than anything else i tried fwiw

windy.com is genuinely the move for anywhere coastal or mountainous, learned that the hard way in scotland. also worth checking at like 30m altitude specifically not just ground level because theres often a huge difference and thats where your drone actually is

Iceland has been on my list forever but yeah the wind reputation precedes it. did you find mornings were any better? ive heard golden hour there lasts like three hours in summer which sounds incredible but im worried about exactly what you described
