maybe a hot take but ive been to like 4 or 5 group fly events now and honestly most of the time i spend more time standing around talking than actually flying. which isnt bad i guess but i always leave feeling like i didnt really get to do what i wanted to do. like at the last one we had 12 people there and everyone was taking turns on this one field and you'd fly for maybe 10 minutes then wait 40. i get that its fun socially but idk. anyone else feel this way or am i just being antisocial about it

honestly kind of agree. the social side is great for picking up tips and seeing other peoples builds but yeah the actual stick time suffers. the best events ive been to were smaller, like 4-5 people max. big organized fly-ins feel more like an airshow where ur watching more than flying

nah i think ur missing the point a bit, the whole thing is the community aspect not maximizing flight time. if you just want to fly go to an empty field by yourself. meetups are for the people not the flying. that said yeah some events are def poorly organized and thats just on the organizer
