lost my drone on day 2 of a 10 day trip, what a way to start

so anyway this is kind of a disaster story but also funny in hindsight. went to iceland last month, first morning out near vik i got a little too confident with the wind. checked the weather app and it said like 18mph which i fly in at home all the time but the gusts coming off the cliffs there are just something else entirely. thing got pushed sideways and then RTH kicked in but the angle it was trying to come back from was straight into the cliff face. lost signal and thats that. spent the rest of the trip just using my phone camera like some kind of animal. honestly though iceland is so dramatic visually that even phone shots came out decent. still gutted about the drone tho

oof that hurts. coastal cliffs are no joke, the wind does weird things when it wraps around rock formations. ive had my air 3 get slammed around in spots that showed totally calm on windy.com. that app is good but its still just a model, real conditions can be way more chaotic especially near water

this is literally my biggest fear before any trip. do you have the fly more combo with the insurance or were you running it uninsured? im about to go to scotland and now im second guessing everything lol. also did you ever find the drone or is it just gone into the void
