flying in Costa Rica next month — anyone done this?

so im heading to CR in about 5 weeks and obviously bringing the mini 3. ive heard the rules there are kind of a mess depending on who you ask. some people say you need to register with DGAC, others say under 250g youre totally fine. cant find a straight answer anywhere official and the DGAC website is half in Spanish and half broken links.

mostly want to fly around Monteverde and maybe some beach spots near Tamarindo. anyone done this recently or know if park rules are stricter than general airspace rules? dont want to get my drone confiscated on day 2 of the trip.

went in March with my air 2s. honestly nobody stopped me or said anything the whole trip. did register online beforehand just to cover myself but I dont think anyone ever checked. the national parks are the real issue — Monteverde specifically has signs saying no drones but enforcement is basically vibes. i flew early morning before the crowds showed up and had zero problems. Tamarindo beach is fine, just watch out for the pelicans lol they get weirdly close

the sub-250g thing does help but CR technically still wants registration regardless of weight last i checked. that said the rules change like every 8 months so who knows what its like now. id just download the regs PDF before you go so you have something to show if anyone hassles you. havent been there myself but been through similar stuff in Panama and having paperwork even if nobody reads it makes you feel better
