ugh so this happened last month in utah. was out near bryce canyon, didnt realize the entire thing including the roads leading in were part of the park boundary. pulled over at what i thought was just a regular roadside pullout and sent my air 2s up for like 4 minutes before a ranger rolled up.

they were actually pretty decent about it, didnt fine me or anything but they took my sd card and held the drone for like 3 hours while they checked my footage to make sure i hadnt been flying over the actual formations. got everything back but it was a whole thing and kinda killed the vibe for the rest of the day.

lesson learned i guess - use the b4ufly app AND look up the actual park boundary shapefile before you go anywhere near a national park in the us. the boundary is almost never where you think it starts.

that sucks but honestly you got off light. friend of mine got a $5000 fine at yellowstone a few years back, they do not play around. national park service rules are federal law not just park policy, most people dont realise that until its too late. b4ufly is good but like you said the boundaries are the real trap
