customs stopped me at the airport over my lipo batteries, what a nightmare

ok so this just happened yesterday and im still kind of annoyed about it. flying back from japan, had three 2s lipos in my carry on in a lipo bag clearly labeled everything, ive done this like a dozen times no issue. this time the agent pulls me aside and starts asking all these questions, calls over a supervisor, the whole thing. they eventually let me through but made me take out every single battery and show them individually and i nearly missed my connection

i had all my paperwork and the batteries were well within the wh limit but it didnt seem to matter, they just hadnt seen them before i guess. anyway lesson learned i guess, always get to the airport stupid early when youre carrying gear

it really does just depend on who you get at the counter. same rules, same airport, different day and you get a completely different experience. i started putting my batteries in a clear zip lock inside the lipo bag so they can see everything without touching anything, seems to speed things up a bit. also labeling the wh directly on the battery with a sharpie helped one time
