so i was reading through some aviation news this morning and apparently theres some proposed changes coming to the remote ID requirements, something about smaller drones potentially getting exemptions or at least a modified compliance path. i honestly cant find the original source again, it might have been an aviation week thing or maybe a thread on reddit but i lost the tab.

anyway if anyone has been following this more closely i'd love to know whats actually changing vs whats just speculation at this point. i fly mostly under 250g so i thought i was already in the clear but my buddy said even sub-250 stuff might get pulled into it eventually depending on where you're flying. just trying to figure out if i need to do anything differently or if this is all still just proposed stuff that may never actually happen

yeah ive been keeping an eye on this too. from what i understand the current remote ID rule is still in full effect and hasnt actually changed yet, but there was a notice of proposed rulemaking that dropped a few months back that could affect how recreational flyers handle compliance. the sub-250g exemption for registration still stands as far as i know but remote ID modules are a separate conversation honestly.

the tricky part is the FAA moves so slow that anything proposed today might not be finalized for another two or three years. i wouldnt panic about it but its worth bookmarking the FAA docket website and checking back every few months. theyll post all the comments and final rules there when it eventually gets there.

wait so does this affect DJI mini 4 pro owners too? i just got mine last month and i thought i was fine because its under 250g but now im second guessing everything lol. already registered it just in case
