so ive been going back and forth on this for like two weeks now and i cant make up my mind. i mostly fly casually, parks, some travel, occasional family stuff. nothing crazy. my budget is around 800 bucks give or take.

the nano+ keeps catching my eye because the color science on that thing looks really nice in the videos ive seen, like genuinely better than i expected for the price. but then everyone and their mom recommends the mini 3 and i get it, the ecosystem is huge, support is everywhere, the obstacle avoidance is solid.

my main thing is i dont want to be locked into something that has weird firmware issues or where replacement parts are impossible to find in a year. autel seems to be doing okay but theyre not dji obviously. anyone actually daily driving a nano+ right now and can give me a real take?

i flew the nano+ for about eight months before i upgraded to the evo lite+ and honestly it was a solid little machine. the image quality really does punch above its weight, the colors out of the camera have this warmth that i always felt like dji kind of oversaturates or overcorrects depending on the mode. the app had some quirky moments early on but autel pushed a few updates and most of the weirdness went away for me.

that said the mini 3 is just so dialed in. the flight characteristics feel more refined, the obstacle avoidance actually works reliably unlike the nano where i felt like i couldnt fully trust it in tighter spots. if you're doing travel and parks you probably wont hit that limitation much but its worth knowing. parts and support wise autel has gotten better but yeah if you crack a prop in the middle of nowhere you're more likely to find dji stuff. i dont regret the nano+ but if i was starting fresh today i might go mini 3 just for peace of mind

got the nano+ about four months ago as my first real drone and i love it honestly. setup was pretty easy, the skylink controller feels nice in the hands. only issue ive had is the app crashed on me twice during longer flights which was a little scary but nothing bad happened. just something to be aware of i guess
