so this has been bugging me for a while and i finally decided to post about it. my evo ii pro started losing controller connection at like 800 meters which is way way less than what it should be doing. i fly in a pretty open area, not a lot of towers nearby that i can tell. its not an rc issue because i tested the controller and it seems fine on the bench.

it used to go out to almost 2k no problem and now it just cuts out and RTH kicks in. i havent changed anything that i can think of except maybe a firmware update a while back, not sure exactly when it started. running the skylink 2 controller. anyone dealt with this before or know what to look for

check your antenna orientation on the controller first, sounds obvious but ive seen people not realize one of the antennas got slightly bent or is sitting at a weird angle after being tossed in a bag a bunch of times. the flat face of the antenna needs to point toward the drone not the edge, if you have them both just sticking straight up and your drone is directly in front of you youre basically sending signal with the weak side.

also worth checking if there was a specific firmware version that changed the signal threshold settings, there was a period where some evo II owners were reporting autel quietly adjusted some of the signal behavior in an update. might be worth posting your current firmware version, someone here will probably recognize it

had somthing similar happen and it turned out to be interference from a new cell tower that went up not far from my usual spot. took me forever to figure out because the area looked the same to me. tried flying somewhere else and got my range back immediately. maybe worth tesitng in a completely different location just to rule that out before you go digging into settings
