the new Autel Evo Lite+ firmware dropped and it actually fixed the thing i was complaining about

  • Members

so anyway i finally got it working the way it should have out of the box tbh. for context i've had the Evo Lite+ for about eight months and there was this really annoying issue where the variable aperture was doing this weird hunting thing in video mode, like it couldn't decide on an exposure and would just... breathe constantly even with ND filters on and manual ISO set. drove me crazy on a paid shoot a few weeks back and i had to do a ton of smoothing in post.

the firmware that dropped last week seems to have addressed it. flew yesterday in similar lighting conditions and it was noticeably more stable. Autel doesn't really publicize their changelogs very well so i have no idea if this was even intentional or just a side effect of whatever else they changed but either way im not complaining. anyone else notice improvements or is it just my unit that was acting weird before

the aperture hunting thing is a known issue that a bunch of Lite+ owners were reporting on the Autel facebook group, so yeah almost certainly an intentional fix. Autel's changelogs are basically useless you're right about that, they just say "performance improvements" and call it a day. glad it's sorted though, that would drive me insane on paid work

Ive had similar experience with Autel firmware updates in general ? they quietly fix stuff without telling anyone. Kind of annoying from a transparency standpoint but i guess the end result is fine. Did the update change anything about the smart scene modes at all? I feel like mine behave slighly differently now but could just be placebo, havent done a proper side by side or anything
