ok so this has been bugging me for a while and i finally need to ask. my editing workflow is completely all over the place and i think its slowing me down more than anything else. i shoot in dlog on my mini 4 pro and then i dump everything onto my hard drive and then i just kind of... sit there looking at 40gb of footage not knowing where to start

i use premiere but ive also tried resolve and honestly both feel overwhelming when i have a bunch of clips. do most people color grade every single clip manually or is there some faster way to do this. also what do you do with the footage you dont use ? do you delete it right away or keep it all? my drives are getting full and i dont really have a system. sorry if this is kind of a vague question, hard to explain

resolve is worth sticking with if you shoot log, the color tools are just better for that workflow imo. what changed things for me was making a proper LUT for my specific drone and color profile and just slapping that on everything first as a starting point, then doing minor tweaks per clip instead of starting from scratch each time. you can apply a LUT to the whole timeline in like two clicks in resolve once you figure out where to put it.

for organization i create a folder per shoot date and inside that i have raw footage, selects, and project files. selects is the key one ? i go through everything once and just pull out anything that might be usable before i even open the edit. deletes the rest after like a week if the project is done. the stuff that feels painful to throw away usually never gets used anyway

ngl i kept everything for the first two years and now i have like 6 terrabytes of drone clips i will never look at again so definitely dont do that lol. the select pass thing the person above mentioned is real, just watch everything once at like 2x speed and trash the obvious garbage immediately. your future self will thank you. also for dlog specifically there are some free community LUTs out there made specifically for the mini 4 pro that are pretty solid starting points, might save you some time fiddling with curves
