so ive been studying for like 6 weeks now and i feel pretty okay about most of it but airspace is still kind of confusing me. like i get the basics of class B C D and E but when it comes to reading the sectional charts and figuring out the exact altitudes and stuff it starts to blur together. i been using the Sportys prep course and also watched a bunch of youtube videos from like pilot institute and some other guys. took a practice test last night and got a 78 which i know is passing but i want to score higher than that if i can. just wondering if anyone who took it recently has any advice on what to actually focus on like is the real test pretty similar to the practice tests or does it throw curveballs. also does the testing center give you scratch paper because i want to work through the density altitude questions by hand

yeah they give you a whiteboard and marker at most PSI testing centers, at least thats what i got when i took mine last year. the real test felt pretty close to the practice exams honestly. airspace was definitely on there, i think i had like 4 or 5 questions that were basically just read this sectional and tell me whats happening here. the density altitude and pressure altitude math questions werent too bad as long as you remember the formulas and just stay calm. my biggest tip is dont overthink the weather stuff, a lot of people freak out about METARs and TAFs but they really just want to know if you can read them at a basic level, not like a full ATP pilot level.

i took it like two months ago and honestly the sectional chart legend they give you in the test is your best friend, use it. i kept forgetting i could reference it during the actual exam and wasted time trying to remember things from memory. also the part about loading and performance, i almost didnt study that because i thought it wouldnt come up much but there were more questions on it than i expected. you'll be fine at 78 on practice tests tbh, the passing score is 70 so theres room. just sleep good the night before and dont cram the morning of
