Air 2S keeps losing signal way sooner than expected ? anyone else had this

  • Members

been flying my Air 2S for about 8 months and lately the signal seems to drop off way earlier than it used to, like im sometimes getting warnings at distances where i never had issues before. nothing has really changed in my setup as far as i know

im using the standard controller not the smart one. fly mostly in open areas, fields and stuff, not a lot of obstacles. range used to feel basically unlimited for what i need and now its noticeable at distances i wouldnt have even thought about before

havent updated firmware in a few months, dont know if thats relevant. also moved to a new house recently but the areas i fly arent really near the house so i dont think thats it. just kind of at a loss here and wondering if anyone has run into anything similar before i start panicking about a hardware issue

first thing id check is the antennas on the controller, make sure theyre fully extended and positioned right ? flat face toward the drone, not pointing at it like a gun. sounds basic but ive seen people fly for months with them in the wrong position and wonder why range is bad. also interference in your new area could be a factor even if youre not flying near home, 2.4ghz congestion from neighbors wifi etc can affect things more than people expect depending on how the signals travel

also worth checking if theres any damage to the controller antenna connectors, sometimes they get loose if the controller has been knocked around a bit

i had something weirdly similar after i updated firmware actually, went back and checked my flight logs and the signal strength numbers were just different after a specific update. not saying thats whats happening to you but it might be worth updating and seeing if it changes anything, sometimes the older firmware versions have stuff that gets patched. or sometimes they break things, its kind of a gamble honestly
