so ive been reading through some of the updates and it sounds like they're actually starting to crack down harder on remote ID compliance this year, like not just the rule being on the books but actual enforcement. saw a few posts on reddit about guys getting approached at flying sites and being asked to show their setup is broadcasting properly.

im running an older mavic and had to add one of those external broadcast modules which honestly has been kind of a pain to deal with. curious if anyone else has been through this or if theres a better solution im missing. also heard something about DJI pushing a firmware update that handles it natively on some models now but i cant find the details anywhere reliable

yeah the enforcement thing is real, talked to a guy at our local club who got stopped near a park last month. they weren't super aggressive about it but they did check. he had everything sorted so it was fine but still a bit nerve wracking if you're not prepared.

on the DJI firmware thing ? the Mini 4 Pro and Air 3 both got updates that handle remote ID without the external module, its baked in now. if you're on an older bird like a Mavic 2 or something youre probably stuck with the broadcast module unfortunately. the Dronetag ones seem to be the most popular right now, bit bulky but they work

wait so if im just flying in my backyard do i still need all this? i just got a Mini 2 SE like two months ago and the whole remote ID thing is kind of confusing to me still honestly. does it come with it built in or do i have to buy something extra
