keeps drifting when i let go of the sticks??

so ive been practicing in my yard for a few days now and something feels off. when i let go of the sticks the drone kind of slowly moves in one direction instead of staying put. its not huge but its enough that if i take my eyes off it for a second it ends up somewhere i didnt want. is this a calibration thing or is there wind and im just not noticing it or what. it was pretty calm outside i think. first drone so i genuinely dont know if this is normal or something i need to fix

what drone is it? that matters a lot here. if its a cheaper one without gps it's going to drift, thats just how it works in altitude hold mode, it uses the barometer to hold height but theres nothing actively correcting horizontal position. if it has gps and its drifting that could be a compass calibration issue or it just hadnt gotten a good lock yet. usually when i switch to sport mode on mine it stops using some of the positional stuff and drifts more too so make sure you're in the right flight mode

yeah this drove me crazy when i started too. turned out for me there was actually more wind than i thought, like even a light breeze at 10 feet will push these things around more than you expect especially if its a lighter drone. i started checking the weather app specifically for wind speed before going out and anything over like 8mph made a noticeable difference for me. could also be the imu needs calibrating, theres usually an option for that in the settings somewhere but check the wind thing first because thats honestly the most likely culprit for a beginner
