Air 2S vs Air 3 ? is the upgrade actually worth it or am i just being tempted

  • Members

been flying my Air 2S for almost two years and its been a genuinely great camera drone, no real complaints. but ever since the Air 3 came out ive been sort of eyeing it and i cant decide if its a real upgrade or if im just falling into the classic gear acquisition trap

the dual camera thing on the Air 3 is interesting to me because i do a lot of real estate stuff and sometimes wish i had a wider option without having to reposition everything. but the 2S sensor is legitimately good and i know how to get the most out of it at this point. like i know its limitations and i work around them

anyone made this jump and either loved it or regretted it? or even just have thoughts. i dont want to drop that money and feel like nothing changed

made this exact jump about 6 months ago and honestly for real estate specifically it made a noticeable difference. having the 1x and the 3x to switch between without moving the drone saves real time on a shoot, clients dont want to stand around while you reposition and reframe everything. image quality is comparable enough that i dont really miss the 2S sensor, and the longer flight time on the Air 3 is genuinely useful not just a spec sheet number

that said if you're mostly doing stuff where one focal length is fine and you're not rushed on site i could see the argument for just keeping what you have. the 2S isnt suddenly bad just because a newer thing exists

i'd wait honestly. not because the Air 3 is bad, its clearly a good drone, but if you're already two years in with the 2S and you know it well thats worth something. the learning curve isnt huge but theres always a period where you're fiddling with new settings instead of just flying. save the money and see if you still want it in 6 months, if yes then buy it, if you forgot about it you have your answer lol
