Mini 3 Pro vs Mini 4 Pro ? is it actually worth upgrading

  • Members

so ive had my Mini 3 Pro for about a year and a half now and honestly its been great, no real complaints. but ive been seeing a lot of people talking up the Mini 4 Pro and im starting to get that itch you know. the obstacle avoidance on the 3 has saved me a couple times but i keep hearing the 4 has omnidirectional sensing which sounds like a pretty big deal especially for flying in tighter wooded areas.

my main use is just weekend recreational stuff, some real estate stuff on the side for a friend. not doing anything crazy. so i guess my question is for anyone who has actually used both ? is the jump noticeable enough in real world flying or is it mostly spec sheet stuff that doesnt matter much day to day

honestly had the same debate with myself a few months back. went and handled both at a store and ended up keeping my Mini 3. for casual weekend flying and even light real estate work the difference just wasnt there enough for me to justify it. the video quality is close enough that clients arent going to notice, and the extra obstacle avoidance directions are nice but if youre already a somewhat careful flier it rarely comes up. save the money is my take, unless you're flying in genuinely complex environments a lot.

I upgraded from Mini 3 Pro to the 4 Pro about 6 months ago and the thing that actually got me was ActiveTrack 360, not the obstacle avoidance. the tracking on the 3 was fine but the 4 just feels more confident around objects. that said I also do a decent amount of stuff in forests and near structures so for me it made sense. if youre mostly doing open field real estate shots you might genuinely not feel the difference much
