thinking about switching from Autel to DJI and kind of dreading the whole thing

been flying the Autel Evo Lite+ for about a year and a half and its been fine, really no major complaints, but im starting to feel like i made the wrong call going with Autel in the first place. the ecosystem just feels thin compared to DJI - accessories are harder to find, the app updates are slower, and when i have questions i can never find anyone else using the same drone to ask.

not saying Autel is bad, the camera on the Lite+ is actually really nice and i like that it doesnt need registration in the same way, but the community support gap is real and i feel it every time something slightly weird happens and google gives me nothing useful.

so im looking at probably selling the Autel and putting that toward an Air 3 or maybe waiting to see what comes next. anyone made a similar switch? is the DJI ecosystem actually as good in practice as it seems from the outside or am i just romanticising it because the grass is greener etc. also kind of worried about selling the Autel, not sure what theyre actually going for used these days

switched from an Evo 2 to the Air 2S a couple years back and honestly the community thing alone made it worth it. like you said, when something goes wrong with a DJI drone theres always seventeen reddit threads and youtube videos from people who had the exact same issue. that has saved me so much time.

the Autel camera was genuinely competitive and i missed the colors for a bit but you adjust. if youre shooting log footage the Air 3 is a pretty big step up in flexibility anyway. only thing id say is dont rush the sale - Autel stuff holds value better than people expect and waiting for the right buyer is worth it over taking a lowball offer on FB marketplace

i mean the DJI ecosystem is great but dont sleep on the downsides either. fly more subscription is kind of a trap imo, the geofencing unlock process is annoying if you fly anywhere near controlled airspace regularly, and they've had some data privacy stuff that bothers some people depending on where you work or who your clients are. none of that is a dealbreaker necessarily but its worth going in with eyes open rather than assuming everything is sunshine once you switch brands
