so this has been driving me nuts for like two weeks now. im flying my mini 3 pro and it just randomly drops connection, sometimes for half a second sometimes longer, and once it actually went into RTH which was terrifying because i was pretty close to some trees. the weird thing is it doesnt happen every flight, maybe like 1 in 3 times, and it seems worse in certain areas but not always the same area so i dont think its just a interference hotspot or whatever.

ive checked the obvious stuff, signal boosters seated properly, controller charged, fresh firmware on everything. my phone is a pixel 7 and ive seen some people say android has issues but i used the same phone for months without this happening. only thing that changed recently is i updated the dji fly app like 3 weeks ago which is right around when this started. anyone else seeing this or is my RC-N1 maybe going bad

the dji fly app update is almost certainly your problem. there was a version that came out maybe a month ago that had serious latency and disconnect issues on certain android devices, pixel included i think. check what version youre on and try rolling back, theres a thread on the dji forum with the older apks. also worth going into developer options on your pixel and making sure the usb connection is set to charge only, not file transfer or anything else, that can mess with the data connection to the controller in ways that are really hard to diagnose because it only happens intermittently.

the RTH thing is normal behavior, if it loses signal for more than a few seconds it'll do that, you can adjust the timing in the safety settings but honestly i'd leave it and just fix the root cause first.

had something similar on my air 2s, turned out to be my phone case partially blocking the antennas on the RC-N1. sounds dumb but i had one of those thick cases and when i gripped the controller a certain way it was enough to degrade the signal. prob not your issue if its been fine for months but worth ruling out
