So ive had my Mini 3 Pro for about a year and a half and honestly love it, no real complaints. But my buddy just got the Mini 4 Pro and keeps going on about how much better it is and now im second guessing myself. I fly mostly on weekends, landscape stuff, the occasional family vacation video, nothing crazy professional.

The omnidirectional obstacle avoidance on the 4 Pro sounds nice but i genuinely cant remember the last time i actually hit anything with the 3 Pro, i just fly carefully. The vertical shooting thing is cool i guess? But i already have enough footage i never finish editing so im not sure i need more ways to shoot.

Anyone here actually made that jump from 3 to 4 and felt like it was genuinely worth the money, not just a nice-to-have upgrade? Or did you feel kind of the same after the novelty wore off

Honestly? I did exactly that upgrade and my honest take is... it depends. The obstacle avoidance going fully omnidirectional is more useful than i expected, not because i crash a lot but because it lets me fly a bit more confidently in tighter spots without baby-sitting the sticks constantly. But if youre already a careful flier the difference day to day is pretty small.

The thing that actually surprised me was how much better the footage looks in low light. Evening golden hour stuff especially, the Mini 3 footage always got a little noisy faster than id like. The 4 Pro handles it noticeably better. If you shoot a lot in those conditions id say its worth it. If youre mostly midday sunshine stuff then yeah probably just keep what you have and save the money for a trip to somewhere worth flying.

i have the mini 4 pro and never had the 3 so cant compare directly but the vertical video thing is actually way more useful than i thought it would be. i was skeptical too but for sharing clips on instagram reels and stuff its really convenient to not have to crop everything
