so i was reading through some of the recent FAA bulletins and it really seems like they're starting to actually push enforcement on Remote ID more seriously this year. like not just the 'we recommend compliance' stuff but actual notices going out to flying clubs and whatnot. anyone else been following this or am i reading too much into it?

i fly mostly out at a field that's part of an AMA club and we got some paperwork recently that made it sound like inspectors could start showing up at sanctioned events. our club coordinator is kinda freaking out about it tbh. we have a bunch of older members flying stuff that predates all the module requirements and nobody really wants to ground half the fleet just to satisfy a rule that still feels half-baked to me.

not trying to start a debate about whether RID is good or bad, just genuinely curious if anyone has heard anything more concrete about whats actually being enforced vs what's still just on paper

yeah from what ive seen the enforcement side is still pretty thin on the ground, at least for recreational flyers. the bigger push seems to be on commercial operators right now, probably because thats where the paper trail is easier to follow. that said i wouldnt bank on it staying that way forever, the agency has been pretty consistent about tightening things up incrementally.

your AMA club situation is actually a bit different because flying under an approved community based organization still gives some cover but the RID module requirement doesnt go away just because youre a member. the older guys might need to look at the broadcast module options, they're not that expensive anymore and some of them are pretty painless to install. not ideal but probably better than the alternative if inspectors do start showing up.

this is actually something i was wondering about too, im pretty new to all this and when i was getting set up my local hobby shop told me anything i buy new should already have it built in which seemed easy enough. but then i went to a club fly day and half the planes out there were like ancient foamies with no modules and nobody seemed worried at all so i genuinely dont know what the actual situation is lol
