litchi vs dronelink for waypoint missions ? anyone switched recently?

  • Members

so ive been using litchi for like 3 years now for all my waypoint stuff and it's fine, does what i need, but i keep hearing people talk about dronelink and honestly im not sure if it's worth the hassle of switching and relearning everything. my main use case is doing repeated survey passes over the same fields, pretty boring stuff but i need the altitude control to be precise and litchi has been... okay. not great. had a couple weird altitude spikes on curved waypoint paths that i still cant fully explain.

anyway if anyone's actually used both and switched i'd love to hear if dronelink handles curved paths better or if its basically the same thing with a fancier interface. also wondering about the android tablet support, i run a galaxy tab s7 and litchi has been mostly solid on it but crashes occasionally mid-mission which is not ideal obviously.

switched from litchi to dronelink about 8 months ago and honestly don't regret it. the interface takes some getting used to, it's a lot more granular with the mission parameters which is either great or annoying depending on what you're trying to do. for survey work the altitude hold is noticeably more reliable in my experience, i do cell tower inspections and the precision matters a lot. the curved path thing in litchi always bugged me too, something about how it interpolates the heading between waypoints felt off.

cant speak to the galaxy tab specifically, i use an ipad mini and it's been rock solid. dronelink's android support has a reputation for being slightly behind ios but they've been updating it more frequently lately.

tangentially related but has anyone tried using dronelink with the mini 3 pro? i saw some thread somewhere saying there were issues with the RC2 controller not handing off properly but that was from like a year ago and i dont know if they've patched it since. asking because im in a similar boat to OP, litchi just feels kind of stale at this point
